Oh yeah, baybee. Did you vote? If so it worked. ITDW should now get more airtime in Germany, which rocks.
Thanks for the video link, Eva.

ITDW on MySpace
Rammstein has posted the video for ITDW on its MySpace page, which is not a problem since the indexing has been reversed. This works well with the Echo Award nomination, which I hope you have all voted on.

Vote For Rammstein

Go here. Sign up and sign in. Then click on the Rammstein video thumbnail, then on the big purple button that says 'Jetzt für dieses Video abstimmen' (vote for this video now). Let's put ITDW all over German TV, by ensuring that it wins the Best National Video award.
Echo Nomination
Rammstein has been nominated for an Echo Award for Ich Tu' Dir Weh. One has to wonder what the BPjM will think if ITDW gets plastered all over the place for winning an Echo Award.

Ich Tu' Dir Weh Deindexed
It appears that the original 2009 decision by the BPjM to index LIFAD, because of ITDW and the picture of RZK, has been reversed:
Thanks to Rammstein.NL for the information.
Original German
GLT English
I have to say I am delighted with this, but will be interested to find out why. They had a solid case under law for the listing. This is very intriguing, but explains the performances of ITDW unaltered recently.

LILT: Ich Tu' Dir Weh 3.0
Promoted without change:
[original lyrics & translation]
It's for me alone you're living
I am making my mark on you
Everything for me you're giving
You love me, for I don't love you
You're bleeding for my salvation
One small cut you're turned on
Your body already twisted
While it feels good we risk it
I hurt you so
I'm not sorry
This does you good
Hear how it screams
With you I have choice in torture
Barbed wire in the urethra
Your flesh in salt and sepsis
Till you die, and yet you still live
Bites, and kicks, and such hard blows
Needles, forceps, and a blunt saw
Make a wish, I won't say no
I feed live rodents into you
I hurt you so
I'm not sorry
This does you good
Hear how it screams
I hurt you so
I'm not sorry
This does you good
Hear how it screams
You are the ship, I am the captain
So whence should I be travelling?
Reflected back is your face too
You love me, for I don't love you
I hurt you so
I'm not sorry
This does you good
Hear how it screams
I hurt you so
I'm not sorry
This does you good
Hear how it screams
I hurt you so
I'm not sorry
This does you good
Hear how it screams

ITDW Instrumental Cover
Jamie21 has been at it again. He's posted his instrumental cover of ITDW on YouTube:
See the rest of his videos for his other Rammstein covers. More arse-kicking guaranteed.

Fucking Devotee
There's a YouTube user called fuckingdevotee who has a very impressive catalogue of HD videos from both the Malmö and Stockholm shows, as well as from Berlin. Below is the 2010.02.20 Globe Arena ITDW video, and it's just one small part of a lot of fantastic footage. If you want the full HD experience click on the player to go to the source page:
Nice! FD also has some Combichrist and Depeche Mode videos up there. I'd love to know what the camera was, which was used to capture this stuff, because it outstrips anything else I have found.

Et Tu Switzerland et Austria?
Yet another site has posted that ITDW is indexed in Switzerland and Austria. This time I have actually asked for more information in their comments, as ITDW was released in Austria before anywhere else than I can find, and is almost certainly not banned. If it is it is a very recent development.
P.S. please forgive the terrible Latin. It's a bad literary allusion.

February 9 for Pain

TG has posted the official release date for the ITDW single. It's february 9, and the video will be available on iTunes, hopefully everywhere. I'm so sick of the lack of videos in the NZ iTunes store!

Dortmund Rethink?
Tempelhüter has found an update on the Dortmund issue. It would appear the idea of all tracks from LIFAD being banned is no longer on the table. I suspect that the performance of ITDW with altered lyrics or with no vocals scares the sphincters-in-spasm of the authorities, because (horror of horrors) the fans might sing the indexed lyrics. Honestly, I hope they do, but it would appear that the idea is that if any version of ITDW is performed there will be a clamp-down. I have no idea what the band will do, but it would seem concerns that the Dortmund shows will be cancelled if the entire LIFAD tracklist is banned are now unfounded.
The original German article is here. Thanks Tempelhüter!

More ITDW Cover Art
External over at Affenknecht (Rammstein-eu as-was) has found a second ITDW single cover. This one looks less likely than the plain, grey-scale one I posted and then took down recently (fish-hook heart on white field). I guess we will soon find out.

Ich Tu' Dir Weh Single Cover
[Image removed until I can check that it is appropriate to publish]
TG has confirmed that the image going around fan sites at present is indeed the new single's cover art. Two fish hooks forming a heart feature on a white field, with the Rammstein typeface and that for LIFAD. It is simple, clean, and the lettering is very oddly laid out.
In fact, the lettering is exactly like the original LIFAD heart logo, only more compressed within the hook-heart.
I like it a lot. The image's simplicity and cleanliness belies the gritty darkness of the song perfectly, and will be eye-catching on the shelf...outside of Germany.

Moral Rammdomness
If you're a sensible LILT reader you will by now have started following TheGauntlet.Com. If you don't you should. I by no means mirror all of TG's posts, and content goes up there that never reaches LILT, and vice versa. While we are friendly, we are very much independent sites.
Yesterday TG posted an article about the added morality police woes the band faces in regard to its Dortmund shows next month.
Will Rammstein be forbidden from playing instrumental or lyrically altered versions of Ich Tu' Dir Weh? Will fans be unable to enjoy this stunning number and the original lyrics by singing them for themselves? Till can't sing the original ITDW lyrics in Germany, but I really hope the instrumental or at doctored version can be played, because it is a beautiful song.
By the way, I am working on my review of the bonus disk again. I'll let you know when it goes up.

Tilting at Demons
Now, here's something for the fan-girls to take home to their mothers:

Oh yeah, Lindemann to the core. I've previously described this man as a medieval fortress with charisma, a fleshy tank, fist-like, and an intellectual TARDIS, but I've never called him beautiful. I think he is in this video, almost definitely because of the post-production work, possibly because of the careful lighting, probably because he's putting a lot of effort to make bedroom eyes throughout. Either way, well done!
Now I need to post the lilac eyes picture, just because it's so damned absurd. I'm sorry, but after my teenage explorations into romantic fiction, with the inane fixation such authors have with oddly-coloured eyes, this strikes me as funny. I can't think of a less Mills & Boon-ish figure than this:

Something I commented on in an earlier post was how the mishap with Till's cheek-piercing lead to some rather unnecessary mirroring, so they could light him on one side and hide the wire going into his mouth on the other. Here is where they took it to an extreme, yet made no effort to disguise it by masking his distinctive scarring - duh:

Another right royal balls-up was with the split tongue idea. Now, the human tongue is a nasty article, but it has certain physical properties that you can't ignore, such as depth, also known as thickness. I don't care to speculate on the career of Lindemann's tongue, but I have doubts that it is in fact one pixel thick, don't you?

Yes, enough of that now.
The production values were high in this video, on the whole. The lilac eyes, 2D tongue, and the twinned plasma were the only glaring faults I found. Yes, twinned plasma. You know the Tesla coil and how it makes lightning, right? If you don't then google is your friend. Go read about it. Anyway, the fact is that plasma is a bit like snowflakes...sort of. Whether or not that makes sense (sorry) it does not appear in the same form over and over again. This can only happen under the influence of a tired, or possibly lazy, post-production gimp:

Yes, you are seeing the same plasma animation moving up those two Tesla towers. Oopsy-daisy.
The last two stills are shots of Till's mic'. The first one is rather classy, being his Mein Teil mic' from the Reise Reise tour:

Cool! We all liked that mic', because it went with the master butcher costume and the lovely blood-toned costmetics Till wears so well. The other mic' is something a bit different:

Oh now, Till, that's just manky, man. You don't know where that's been. Grubby bastard.
Anyway, here endeth the nitpicking. The next, and probably last installment of my review will be all about the less quantifiable aspects of the video. If you can stand more of my ruminations check back in the next few days.
