A New Lease on Life

After 15 years, ten of those married, LILT is a single woman. You probably noticed (heh) a complete lack of activity here, and when I have posted it's been spotty. Shit happens. So does divorce.

I'm driving a new car, residing in my new apartment, and living differently. Also, my lovely friend in the Rammstein camp is no longer in the Rammstein camp. The changes have been drastic and fairly comprehensive.

One thing has not changed. I still listen to Rammstein, Gevolt, Combichrist, and Appocalyptica, turned up high.

I'm not sure what LILT will be from now on. I may never go back to being a decent news source for the band, because while I love the music I have run out of steam adapting the lyrics to English and I just don't feel the same joy in keeping up now my buddy isn't on tour with the boys.

I will be more active than I have been recently, but I'm not sure if you'll get what you had come to expect from this site. Stick with me if you appreciate me for my insight, but perhaps re-evaluate if you're only paying attention for the news.

LILT is here for the long haul, but what that means you'll have to wait to see. I certainly don't know! Probably the only thing you can count on is some adaptations of Gevolt's lyrics. Their arrangements and stunning vocalist lift the hairs on the back of my neck, and as they don't do the English thing I feel an urge to broaden their audience where I can.

If you've not heard Gevolt yet check out Gevolt.com.

Stil there?

Rammstein Jr

Fond fan parents, or do you think the kids are fans themselves? I love the bit at the end. Drummer-child has unexpected depths.

Paul Les Paul (another echo?)

Gibson has announced the launch of their Paul Landers signature series Les Paul this week. For those confused as to what a Les Paul is, it's a guitar ;)

Is there an echo in here? Yes, Rammstein has been awarded two Echoes, for Best Rock/Alternative National, and for Most Successful National Act Abroad. Represent!

RZK on Rammfire

I'm not sure how I missed this at the time, but Native Instruments, with whom Richard developed the Rammfire tool, has a video up on their YouTube channel featuring Richard and Rammfire:

Combichrist Pixellated

Faderhead's new video features Z Marr, Trevor, and Andy from Combichrist, and I reckon they go down WAY too easily...in a bad way:

How readily they go down...in a good way...only their IRL 'opponents' can tell us.

I'll Drink to That

A marketing video which includes the presentation of a drink called 'Rammstein':

What do you call that? A Pyrocktail?

Slap-Happy

I'll let this video speak for itself:

Manson & Rammstein Together at Last

Marilyn Manson's The Beautiful People will have a distinctly Teutonic flavour at the Echo Awards show this year. Rammstein will share the stage with the iconic American to perform his 1996 track.

A fan with a camera rolling got a real thrill the other day in Bercy:

Soundsphere shines a light on Joe Letz. This is definitely worth checking out. For example:

In Russia Law Breaks You

Well, my question about retrospective application of legislation to the Rammstein show proves to be sound. Here is a news story from Russia about the St Petersburg regulations regarding promotion of homosexuality:

Gun-shy Assassin has a prize for you! Well, if you win. Go try, if you can get to Anaheim.

Five out of Five

The Guardian's Dave Simpson rates the current Rammstein tour 5/5 - I'd say that's pretty hard to beat. Why do I never get to see these shows?

By the way, there are buttloads of reviews saying similar things, with varying degrees of professionalism and skill...and research. I won't post them all. This one is in comprehensible, coherent English, so it wins.

Wait...What?

I really need a Russian to check this out for me. It *seems* that it's about to become a crime to be gay in St Petersburg. It also seems that homosexuality is grouped with paedophilia (I feel dirty just typing that word), and that Rammstein are public offenders. According the article linked above homosexuality stopped being a mental illness there only 13 years ago, and stopped being a crime some six years prior to that. What I don't get is how this kind of fuckwittage can be allowed into positions of power. Did Russians really elect these officials? If so, WHY?

Okay, so Rammstein are good at causing offence. It's part of their charm. I'm not sure how a regulation like this can be applied retrospectively. A Russian lawyer would be really handy about now, to explain this to me.

Joey Interview

Joe Letz von Combichrist has been interviewed by Playdead Nation, and is his usual awesome self. I still reckon my interview with him is the best I've seen, but I'm a tad biased.

Boo!

You wondering where I went? Yeah, sorry about that. Major issues with my MX, thus my news sources have not been getting feeds to me. I'm sorting it out, and *dun dun dun* LILT will resume regular services soon. Love you! *mwah!*

I Plead Lag

Okay, so more than a week ago Loudwire posted that Rammstein took out their best video award by a large margin, and I didn't post about it. Go me. Sorry.

Rammstein - Mein Land from Rammstein on Vimeo.

And well done to those of you who voted.

Am I Being Tailed...?

I was driving through town the other day, with a motor cycle on my tail. He was very close, and when we stopped at the lights he was peering at the back of my car. That was when I remembered my mobile mausoleum.

For those of you wondering, I have the booklet out of the album on the parcel shelf as well, so anyone taking a proper look can see what it's all about.
