LILT: Adios 1.0

I'm making iffey noises about 'nix'. I like nix because it sounds similar to 'nichts' (is actually stol-...borrowed from German), but it's a very flip word in English, and I'm not sure it works in the context of an overdose:

He lies the needle along the vein
And bids that the music come in
Between his neck and his elbow
The melody moves gently through the bones

Go! Go! Go!
Bop bop shu bop

And then as he closes his eyes
In his blood a battle rises
An army marching through his bowel
The warming in his entrails very slow

Go! Go! Go!
Bop bop shu bop

Nix is for you
Nix was for you
Nix left for you
Forever

He moves the needle out of his vein
The melody leaves through his skin
The strings burn him with their shrieks
Harp chords cut into his flesh
He has opened wide his eyes
But still he does not arise

Nix is for you
Nix was for you
Nix left for you
Forever

No lyrics link at this point, as Herzeleid isn't quite itself.

Adios is a cautionary tale, a very sad song, and a beautiful song, all in one. I'm sure the establishment would complain about the first couple of verses, but surely there's plenty to counter them in the last. It's a deceptively simple song. It says a great deal with very basic imagery. As with all the tracks on Mutter (apart from Sonne, which is an anthem) it's got something to say. It's not a favourite with me*, but it's really solid Rammstein, so it shouldn't be underrated.

* I like it, but it would be mad to have fifty-odd favourites, now wouldn't it? ;)
